Description:
A large Midwest state government IT agency contracted with Sun Microsystems to offer a fully managed backup services solution to the state's business agencies.
Monitoring full and incremental backups and completing problem remediation for servers residing in the enterprise data centers. Through this managed services contract, Michigan has become the first state to bring in a strategic partner for the management, monitoring, and remediation of its backup environment. Dewpoint is providing the required on-site, technical, and project management services necessary to support the State’s IMAC process and M1 Project. (Contract Value $3 M)
Additional responsibilities Include:
- Meeting with State staff to help define and implement backup strategies and manage change management tickets related to SBS.
- Monitoring and resolving request and problem tickets in accordance with the established SLA’s.
- Providing oversight for the service and service levels of the overall backup services
- Performing Risk and Issue Management support
- Assist in disaster recovery planning and testing
- Develop and implement infrastructure changes accommodating the needs and growth of customer
- Support all state and federal guidelines for data handling, retention, and restoration
Project Achievements:
- Increased backup success rates from 65% to over 99%
- Increased the number of supported clients in the environment from 800 to over 1400
- Increased backup infrastructure by over 300%
- Decreased headcount by 40%
- Saved $1.2 million dollars annually by making smarter choices in infrastructure design
- Reduced initial backup installation time frames from 15 days down to 3 days.
- 300 hosts and 13TB to 1600 hosts and 2.4 Petabyte.
