To address the evolution of database software, services and data growth, Dewpoint is offering an Oracle Database Health Check to identify technical and procedural areas of growth for our customers and to create a high level roadmap for accomplishing your Oracle Database objectives.
Approach
A Dewpoint Project Manager will visit the customer’s facility and perform a one-day discovery session which will identify the databases that require analysis. During this time the customer will be required to get the security in place to enable remote access for one senior DBA. Once the proper security is established Dewpoint will remotely perform the following:
- Environmental Overview – Determine the overall database structure including the number of databases, and versions
- Security – Determine the structure of the database security established on the databases being analyzed
- Storage Utilization – Determine the amount of storage being utilized by the databases being analyzed and the type of disk being used
- Backup Strategy – Identify the backup strategy and overall success rates
- Performance Metrics – Perform some basic metrics on the databases overall performance
- Physical & Logical Database Design – Assess the physical and logical structure of the databases being analyzed
Program Deliverables
Dewpoint will provide a written report consisting of strengths, weaknesses, short term issues, and recommendations for long term changes. Recommendations will be in priority order in order to address those items of greatest risk.
