From its established project management organization Dewpoint provides three levels of expertise:

  • Senior Project Managers & Program Managers
Senior level experts can lead and direct enterprise level high priority projects or programs, which often require considerable resources and high levels of functional integration and interaction with customer executives.  These individuals interact with executive level management regularly while presenting project status, issues and solutions using formal established reporting methods as required.
  • Project Managers
Project management experts lead and direct medium to large scale projects which also require considerable resources and high level of functional integration and interaction with customer executives.  These individuals interface with customer management  regularly, presenting project status, issues and solutions using formal established reporting methods.
  • Project Coordinators & Project Schedulers
Coordinators and Schedulers work under the general supervision of a more senior project manager and participate in a very material way with the support and direction of projects.  These individuals also interface with client management on a regular basis.  This role is often responsible for much of the administrative burden of project management and for maintaining the project schedule on large-scale enterprise projects.

Project Control Office

  • Application Selection
One of the most important initiatives that an organization undertakes is the selection and implementation of a new business application.  In many cases the business is dependent on selecting and implementing an application that can be tailored to meet any unique requirements of an organization, and is flexible and scalable to continue to meet the organizations needs moving forward.

The impact to the organization can be either positive or negative depending on the application that is selected.

Because of this impact, Dewpoint recommends that our customers follow a disciplined process based in strong Project Management and Software Engineering methodologies prior to making any application selection.  It is critical to note that most vendors will try to sell an organization on their application, Dewpoint believes that it is important that an organization structure its process such that it buys the right application.

In order to solve this problem, Dewpoint recommends that organizations form a Project Control Office that is wholly responsible for ownership of the application selection and implementation process.
  • Application Implementation

An organization utilizing a Project Control Office (PCO) to oversee the implementation of an application can increase the odds of success and reduce expenses typically incurred due to project overruns in cost and time.  Dewpoint takes best practices and real world experience to manage implementation vendors, their processes and puts structure around the entire implementation process.

Project Status Reporting

One of the most critical aspects of project management is clear, concise, timely and accurate status reporting.  This allows all project stakeholders to be properly informed of project issues, constraints and overall project status.  The figure below provides an overview of the type of status report that Dewpoint creates for its project engagements.
This 4-Up Report is structured to allow project executives to be presented with an appropriate level of documentation to make informed decisions.
