Presenter: Harlan Bridges
Topic: Project Strategy and Strategic Execution
Organizations execute their strategy primarily through projects. Their portfolios are developed and prioritized based on their strategic plan and the projects within the portfolio align with the strategic goals and objectives of the organization. As project managers we must be aware of the strategic importance of our projects and how to develop a project strategy that ensures the project meets the strategic goals and brings the highest business value possible to the organization. Projects are similar to individual businesses. Each project has a mission, the fundamental purpose of the project. Each project has a vision, a “picture” of what the results of the project look like. Every project has goals, the desired results, and objectives, the series of smaller achievements on the way to achieving a goal. Therefore each project needs a strategy that defines how the project team will achieve the project’s mission and achieve its goals and objectives. This presentation will provide answers to following:·
What is project strategy?
- Why is project strategy a critical success factor?
- Who develops the project strategy?
- When is the project strategy developed?
- How do I develop a project strategy?
